Since 2020, Belarusian democratic and diaspora communities have developed a growing set of digital tools for political participation, communication, identity, community organization and economic cooperation.
What began with efforts to independently verify the results of the 2020 presidential election gradually developed into a much broader technological ecosystem. New platforms were created to facilitate civic participation, connect Belarusians abroad, organize economic activity and experiment with new forms of digital governance.
Alongside these developments, blockchain, zero-knowledge technology and digital identity systems have introduced new technical approaches to questions traditionally addressed through institutions: establishing identity, verifying eligibility, protecting anonymity, recording decisions and enabling participation across borders.
